Welcome to my world — I’m Emma, a classic country girl at heart. I love muddy boots, elegant horses, frosty mornings, tweed jackets, and a well-laid table. My life is a tapestry woven from creativity, heritage, and meaningful celebration.
Restoring Folly Farm began as an Instagram journal during the winter of 2024. What started as a simple way to keep far-flung family updated on the renovation of Stephen’s 17th-century family farmhouse in the beautiful Berkshire Downs quickly grew into something more. To my surprise and delight, sharing our journey — the slow, rewarding process of breathing new life into a much-loved old home — resonated with others who cherish craftsmanship, character, and country living.
Over the years, I’ve followed a winding and varied path — once feeling guilty for not sticking to one secure career, but now fully embracing a life shaped by creativity, curiosity, and a love of learning new things. I’ve let life lead me, and in return it’s offered up the most rewarding opportunities.
Today, I run Marlake Rosettes, creating bespoke, hand-crafted rosettes and sashes for special occasions — from dog shows to christenings. I’m also a trained celebrant, honoured to write and deliver deeply personal ceremonies for weddings, naming days, vow renewals, and celebrations of life.
In between, I’m often found in the garden, behind the sewing machine, or with my nose buried in curtain fabric samples — occasionally taking on curtain and garden design projects when time allows.
This space is part interiors journal, part country lifestyle, and always rooted in a love of tradition, storytelling, and home. Whether you're here for a peek behind the scenes at Folly Farm, inspiration for your own creative journey, or simply a gentle wander through English country life — you're very welcome here.
