Folly Farm

Finding Inspiration in Every Turn

Folly Farm has stood quietly in the Berkshire Downs since the 18th century — a gentle, timeworn house full of family history and rustic charm. Once part of a working farm and in Stephen’s family since the 1960s, it had been waiting patiently for its next chapter.

In winter 2024, we began the careful process of restoring it — not simply to modernise, but to honour its story. What began as a small Instagram journal has grown into a shared love of traditional craftsmanship, old houses, and the quiet beauty of country living.

Every step of the journey is a labour of love — one curtain, one limewashed wall, one salvaged treasure at a time. We’re breathing life back into this special home, and you’re warmly invited to come along for the ride.

Our Story

We didn’t set out with grand plans—just a shared love of old houses, simple pleasures, and a belief that homes hold stories worth preserving.

Stephen grew up at Folly Farm; I came along with muddy boots, a sewing machine, and a head full of ideas. Together, we’ve taken on the slow, often mucky, always rewarding task of restoring his 17th-century family farmhouse in the Berkshire Downs.

Alongside restoring the house, I run Marlake Rosettes, crafting beautiful, bespoke rosettes for shows, ceremonies and special occasions. I’m also a celebrant, writing and delivering personal, heartfelt ceremonies—from weddings and vow renewals to naming days and farewells. Both crafts—like the house—are rooted in meaning, tradition and thoughtful detail.

Life here is a balance of beams and ribbons, celebrations and renovations. We’re not rushing. Just taking each project one step at a time, and letting the story of Folly Farm unfold.

If you love characterful homes, old-fashioned craft, and life lived with purpose and care—welcome in.
